Research is made, structure is followed, proofreading is conducted, and the feelings of the committee are touched.
But before finally sending the letter, let’s scrutinize the structure paragraph to make sure it’s written accordingly.
We keep in mind that the body of the letter consists only of 3 paragraphs:
- Introduction of yourself
- Demonstration of your experience and enthusiasm
- Summary with the proofs why you are a good candidate
Introduction of yourself
Here you should give the basic information about yourself: mention your education, list your degrees and certificates (if any). You may even include the extracurricular activities you attended that may be valuable for the opportunity you’re applying for.
Demonstration of your experience and enthusiasm
In this paragraph, tell all about your previous professional experience that is relevant for the project. It may be your previous job or volunteering itself. Go deeper into details and describe your duties and responsibilities there.
Summary with the proofs why you are a good candidate
And finally it’s time to remind yourself what an amazing and talented person you are. Mention your skills, both hard and soft. For example, you’re a nice team player who is able to type 1000 symbols per second.
After that, write a short conclusion with gratitude, thanking your recipient for taking the time to read and consider your letter.
And don’t forget to frame your letter with your address details and greeting in the beginning and sign-off after the conclusion.
Greeting phrases: “Dear Mr./Ms. Last Name” or “Dear Sir/Madam” if you do not know who will be reading your letter.
Sign-off: «Sincerely», «With kind regards», «Best regards»
